2024 Louisiana Legislature

The Legislature convened its Regular Session on March 11 and adjourned on June 3.  Of the 2,262 items filed for consideration during the session, we placed 81 items on our watch list.  The Final Report Package contains detailed information on those 81 items, including a chronological listing of all actions taken and amendments made to each item.  The New Laws contains a synopsis of the 38 items from our watch list that were passed by the legislature and signed into law by the governor, including links to each of those legislative acts.  Of those 38 acts, 16 of them impact state laws on pharmacy and controlled substances; they are included in the 2nd edition of Louisiana Pharmacy Laws and Rules which we published on this website on August 31, 2024.

The Legislature convened its 2nd Extrordinary Session on February 19 and adjourned on February 29.  The special session was convened pursuant to a call from the Governor; the call limited legislation to 24 specific topics, all relative to various aspects of crime.  Of the 41 items filed for consideration during the session, we placed 2 items on our watch list.  The Final Report Package contains detailed information on those items, including a chronological listing of all actions taken and amendments made to each item.  The Final Brief contains a synopsis of both items on our watch list which the Legislature passed and the Governor signed into law, including links to each of those acts. 

The Legislature convened its 2023 Regular Session on  April 10 and adjourned on June 8.  Just over 1,600 items were filed for consideration during the session.  Of that number, we placed 48 items on our watch list.  The Final Report Package contains detailed information on those 48 items, including a chronological listing of all actions taken and amendments made to each item.  The Final Brief contains a description of the 16 items from our watch list of 48 which the Legislature passed and the Governor signed into law, including links to each of those acts.
